Q1. What is the difference between class A CDL and class B CDL?

A. Class A CDL allows you to drive a tractor-trailer combination vehicle and a straight truck, whereas class B CDL allows you to drive straight trucks only. Class A CDL is the highest class you can obtain.

Q2. What are the salaries in trucking industry?

A.Most of the companies pay per mile; therefore, your salary will depend on how much you can drive. In addition, as you work longer for a particular company, your rate pay mile will increase. Majority of companies offer $60,000+ per year.

Q3. Do trucking companies offer benefits?

A.Yes, most of the companies offer paid vacations, health insurance, life insurance, and retirement plans.

Q4. Is it possible to get tuition reimbursements for CDL training?

A.Yes, many companies will repay part or full of your tuition when you get hired.

Q5. How do I find job opportunities for entry-level drivers?

A.We have a great job placement program. We work with most of the leading companies in trucking industry. Therefore, you can start working in the trucking field in a safe and hassle free environment. Also, it saves you a headache of looking for a job on your own. At Wolf Driving School you will get the opportunity to meet lots of recruiters, so you will be able to pick the best option for you. The best part is you can get hired before you finish your training.

Q6. Can a person has had a suspension or revocation on the driving record get a CDL?

A.Yes, if the license is not currently suspended or revoked.

Q7. I had a DUI or DWI in the past. Can I still get a CDL?

A.Yes, as long as the proceedings are already finished.

Q8. What do I need to sign-up for CDL training?

A.We need your valid Illinois driver’s license and the social security number. Also, you need to be 18 years or older and be able to pass D.O.T. medical exam.

Q9. What are the hours?

A.We offer flexible hours; therefore, if you are busy with your work, you can go through training at your own pace. For the classroom training you can come any time Monday through Friday 9am – 7pm and Saturday 10am – 3pm. Behind the wheel sessions can be scheduled Monday through Friday 7am – 10pm and weekends between 7am – 5pm.

Q10. How long does it take to complete the program?

A.To complete the full course it takes a minimum of 4 weeks. However, if you cannot attend the school full time, it may take longer. The maximum time to complete the course is 9 months.

Q11. What are the necessary examinations, and how does it work?

A.The written exam you take at the secretary of state facility. The final exam, which consists of pre-trip inspection, range maneuvers, and over the road test you will take at our yard and on our trucks.

Q11. What happens if I fail?

A.You have three attempts on each of the tests. If you fail any of the tests three times, you are required to wait 30 days before taking the test again. Wolf Driving School doesn’t charge fees for taking the test again. However, if you need extra behind the wheel hours, additional charges will apply.

Q12. I was convicted with a felony in the past. Do I still have a chance to find a job as a truck driver?

A.Yes, there are companies which hire drivers with felonies.
